Summer Contests & Auctions News

Find out how you can get your hands on a Platinum PDA, Dual Uzis, and a Rheinmetall by entering our summer community events and auctions!
Torn's summer slate of Community Events is now open for entries, with two new contests joined by the return of a disgustingly familiar event in the form of Leslie's Freakshow. But before we tell you what these competitions involve, let's get straight to the interesting part - the prize pool.

The first-place players in each of our three community events may pick a prize from the Gold Pool, with second and third-placed players able to choose from the Silver and Bronze pools. The order of priority for each competition will be randomised when the winners have been chosen. These prizes are paid out in addition to the usual prizes and ribbons associated with Community Events, which are as follows:

1st place: Gold rosette, Special honour bar, 1,000 points, $500m item.
2nd place: Silver rosette, 500 points, $25m item.
3rd place: Bronze rosette, 250 points, $5m item.

So that's what you stand to receive if you win, but what do we want in return?

LESLIE'S FREAKSHOW

Are you unsure whether you should enter Mr and Ms Torn? Scared you'll end up on the last page along with all the other bubbly personalities? Then why not enter Leslie's Freakshow competition instead! This event requires entrants to make themselves look as awful and weird as possible in return for an exquisite prize. And as you can see from last year's entries, this is something you people are pretty damn good at.

In addition to the prize pool and ribbons, we will also be picking ten players from Leslie's Freakshow event to receive a Paper Bag item on top of these rewards. There are only 40 paper bags in existence at the time of writing, and the cheapest one on the market is currently going for over $1 billion. Last year's event received just 71 entries, so with 10 paper bags paid out, you had roughly a 1 in 7 chance of walking away a Torn billionaire if you had entered.

DOG TAG BANNERS

Our second summer community event is the Dog Tags Banner Design. This one is pretty self-explanatory, with players asked to design a set of forum banners for the top three scorers in Dog Tags 2022. Your banners can be still or animated, but they must be in 600 * 100 pixel format, while also referencing the year, placement, and including a generic section for the winners' names.

If you're looking for inspiration on how to lay out your banner design, last year's URT Banner Competition is chock full of great examples, such as these from FluffyDuck, Fluffy-Kitten, and Liam_sherlY.

SHAME OF THRONES

The final competition we're running this month is the Shame of Thrones contest. We want you to design and make a throne suitable for the winners of Mr and Ms Torn, whose commitment to nudity means they are typically the least ashamed people in Torn City.

Your thrones can be made to any scale you like, including full scale if you're feeling ambitious, and we're happy to accept entries constructed from papier mache, modelling clay, food, wood, human remains, or anything else you can lay your hands on.

Pictured: Heh, bone throne.

You may make two thrones or just the one, but your design must reference Torn and the competition in some way. Perhaps you'll construct a throne made entirely out of Xanax, or maybe you'd prefer to build a regal seat in the shape of Duke's lap. Whatever design you plump for, please make it PG-13, so that means no unexpected protrusions from beneath the cushions.

Each of these Community Events is now open for entries and will remain so until 23:59 on Friday, July 1st. The full rules and requirements for each competition can be read in the Community Events forum.

ITEM AUCTIONS

If you possess neither the talent nor the hideousness to place in our community events then why not make a bid on our ritzy summer auctions. Six rare items have been pilfered from The Hamster's display case and will be put up for sale at the auction house. The items being sold are as follows:

Poker Doll
Poker Chip
Vanity Mirror

Platinum PDA
Dual Uzis
Single White Rose

The big-ticket item up for grabs is the set of Dual Uzis, with these capable of going for upwards of $30 billion depending on their stats. There's also a Platinum PDA worth $12 billion, a Single White Rose worth $1.5-3 billion, and a few other collectibles all worth between nine and ten figures.

These auctions will go live at some point on Friday July 1st, giving you precisely two weeks to sell your private island or spouse in order to raise the necessary funds.

DUKE'S PARCEL GIVEAWAY

Duke's hoard of trash has reached the point where he needs to run another of his famous Parcel Giveaways to keep his inventory within acceptable limits. To receive a parcel from Duke, players must send him a secret amount of money during July 1st, and if the amount is correct, you will receive one of the many thousands of parcels in his collection.

Some of these parcels contain Erotic DVDs, Laptops, and Stat Enhancers, whereas others contain Soccer Balls, Yucca Plants, and Snowboards. The cost of entry to this competition is usually between three to five figures, and this year is no exception. To find out how much to send Duke on July 1st, you must solve the following clue:

Duke’s counting the days until he can have a lil Pot if yous know what i mean.
