Weekly Patch Notes 15/01/2019

Stewie [1494547] — Let's look through all the changes and fixes which have been made throughout the week as listed in Tuesday's Patch list, and what they mean for you. Updates, Changes, and Additions - Added Coingate to accept Bitcoin payments from any wallet (replaced BitPay finally!) Mentioned by Chedburn in a couple of bug reports ( here , and here ) Torn has been looking for a replacement for BitPay over much of the past year. Coingate is the new service provider which will be used to accept Bitcoin transactions. - Increased Russian Roulette timeout timer back to 3 minutes Originally, once a Russian Roulette game had started, each player had three minutes to take their shot. This was changed to one minute on the down-low by Chedburn , however, as it caused more problems than the change was worth, he agreed to increase it back to three minutes after this report from RealityShift. - Added quantity of free refills & free merit resets to Points Building Dekloren report...

Odd Jobs in Torn City

Mary [2161411] — A new type of business is becoming active in Torn, and it's very different. Some would even say it is a little... odd. In a game ruled by crime, cash and combat, what have you done to keep your cash balance in the black? How do you earn your keep in Torn City? Have you mugged or begged, sold losses or bounties, scammed or stolen, become a reviver or revealer? Pictured: This is how manicured your hands will look if you do odd jobs. Many of you might have performed some or all of these tasks, but when I joined Torn as a new player, I wasn't quite sure where I fit in. My stats weren't developed enough to mug, revive or heal, and begging, stealing and scamming didn't really appeal to me. Ok, that's not entirely true. I started out begging for a few days and ended up getting about $6 million, along with my fair share of enemies and threats to boot. Fearful of antagonising people any further, I began to help players out with small, time-saving jobs. It...

Ask Aunty Torn

sugarvalves [1963573] — Is life worth living? Is Torn a real place? And is gambling worth all that bother? The Times' resident old biddy answers these questions and more. Happy New Year everyone! Are your livers recovered from the festivities? I only ask because Aunty may be in need of a new slice for herself given the large quantity of brandy and narcotics I've imbibed. But don't worry dearies, because Aunty is wide awake and full of vinegar in 2019, and it seems you lot are more curious than ever given how many letters I've received lately. We'll start with one young chap who seems to have begun the year by questioning his life choices - something Aunty learned to stop doing many decades ago. What is the point of playing Torn city? I mean.. basically it's just clicking buttons all over again, sometimes you have a nice chat with a person, but tbh... it's pointless, isn't it? Just clicking buttons, collecting strings (money) and seeing numbers rise or...

Crossword 23

ArttiIsGod [1954421] — Something easy to occupy your candy and alcohol filled brains Hello and welcome to Torn City News Crossword number 23. Honestly, we have lost track of which crossword this really is, so we've decided to go with what seems likely to be the right number. You'll be glad to know I managed to come out from my cave after defeating the great candy monster and his accomplice Giant Humongous Fungus. All the gear I managed to get is for sale in my bazaar. Great stuff. *cough*joking*cough* Anyway, let's dig to last year's megacrossword results. The correct answer was: "Dear Santa, yeah I was naughty this year and it was worth it." Some say that Santa was too judgemental. The first person to answer correctly was BotaJ , who will receive a Cheesus item and $250 million Torn dollars. Five runner-ups are Vladic , Liverbird , CRLF , Dalon and Andiiboi , you will all receive Christmas Spirit and $20 million each. Fully solved crossword by Kidkime , ...

Forged Through Glowing

Para [1455847] — The real story of what happened inside Forged Through War HQ on the day Cynic, a long-time JFK sympathiser, waved his tiny hands and hit us with a Dirty Bomb. When Dirty Bombs were finally unlocked again, everybody knew one would be dropped sooner rather than later. It was just a matter of who would test them out first, and, of course, which faction would suffer the unwanted fame of being the first target. It turns out that was us. Pictured: Forged Through War's members yesterday. Step forward _Cynic_ and Forged Through War . Around lunchtime on 9th January, Cynic began posting cryptic clues referencing an announcement at 7 pm TC time. It was pretty easy to guess that he was going to drop a Dirty Bomb on someone, especially since Cynic had outlined his intentions back in December when he posted the following reply to a thread titled A ****ing Nuke Is On The Way . Cynic later claimed the Torn City Times had "decided his unfinished business is linked to DB...

Welcome to the first patch notes article of 2019! Stewie and I hope to keep this up all year (and beyond) to help you understand the finer details of changes listed each week. Thank you all for reading and for the lovely feedback we've had so far! Updates, Changes and Additions - Released Raiding - Reopened Dirty bombs - Added dead faction profiles Dirty Bombs have been re-enabled, keeping much of the same functionality as before with the addition of a much more devastating respect loss. A faction will now lose 5% + 70,000-100,000 respect when hit, and if a faction is ever at 0 respect it can never be recovered, leaving behind only a memorial profile. The destructive warring type known as "Raiding" has also been released. Factions may start an indefinite raid on any other faction, which will onl...
