Weekly Patch Notes: 11/02 - 18/02

Stewie [1494547] — Let's look through the Patch list for the weeks of 11/02/2020 and 18/02/2020 to see what updates, changes, and fixes have been made by the Developers, and what they mean for you. Please note, the updates and bugs documented in this article are worked on by a team of developers. Where a single developer is individually mentioned, it simply reflects who confirmed the report as fixed or complete, and not that they were solely responsible. Updates, Changes, and Additions - Added 10 member requirement for declaring a raid. - Added option to cease a raid after 24 hours if the opponent faction has fewer than 10 members . These changes were made after a report from ProtonStrike. In order to declare a Raid, factions must now have at least 10 members to do so. Furthermore, if the raiding faction drops below 10 members at any point after the first 24 hours of the raid, the opposing faction will have the ability to cease. - Added events for all faction members in the ev...

Revivers Do It All For The Nookie

Twitter [2309219] — You won't find healers on any of those "Outstanding Players of Torn" threads, but you WILL find us cuddled up to those players in wartime, like the dirty little secrets we are... Revivers: We are the Sally Hemings to your Thomas Jefferson; the Monica Lewinsky to your Bill Clinton; the Marilyn Monroe to your JFK. We are the ever-vigilant mistresses trading our special brand of love to Torn's most powerful and wealthiest, factions. Sure, we love getting showered with pretty trinkets and spending money, but for many of us, the real reward is in the pillow talk. If you were to ask revivers what made them decide to forego the glory of warring for the less conventional reviving path, you'll get all kinds of answers. Some people do it for the money they charge or hope to receive, others just like to play dress-up as a nurse. My favorite answer comes from Jeez, the leader of the mega-revive faction Emergency Room. "I just enjoy helping others! ...

Love Juice Makes Me Love Canada

FidelCashflow [1993550] — Last weekend, while the city of Torn was engaged in a 48-hour Love Juice fuelled bloodbath, I brought the love oot to my favorite country, Canada, by hospitalizing the entire nation. Greetings to all my Torn friends, Canada is stunning and beautiful, and it truly is a shame what our snooty Torn citizens keep doing to this fine country. Throughoot every day Torn tourists are constantly stealing our national flowers and poaching our endangered wolverine plushies. This is not acceptable. And so, over Valentine's weekend, while everyone was focusing on Love Juice and lag, I decided to do something aboot it. For two days I took the necessary actions to preserve my great country’s independence and sovereignty against this ootrageous behavior. I didn’t care if this made me an ootcast from Torn. As a devoot Canadian, I had to heed the call when my country needed me. I had to expel the interlopers. And so, to preserve the integrity of my nation, I decided ...

Crossword 40

ArttiIsGod [1954421] — Bigger, better, faster, crossworderer. This is Crossword number forty, and to celebrate, we have forty reasons why you should enter. Hello and welcome to the Torn City Times Crossword number 40. It is amazing that we have made so far without losing any limbs - touch wood. I wrote a very clever intro to this crossword earlier today, but then I accidentally closed the tab before saving it. You see, it's interesting little tidbits like this which keep our readers coming back to the newspaper. Nowhere else in Torn do people tell you about such things. You truly are blessed. My spidey senses are telling me you're getting bored, so here is the answer to our last crossword: Santa knows where all the naughty girls live. If anyone is friends with Santa, please tell him to send me that list. The first person to answer correctly was -Grey- . Our three randomly chosen winners are Rapa , equimanthorn and Lunchtime . Well done you! Below, we have a rather saucy com...

Are You A Standout Player?

Hopslam [795412] — Introducing Hopslam's Outstanding Player Award, a new monthly prize given to those who are deemed to have recorded the most impressive achievement during the past month. Our wonderful variety of Torn citizens have accomplished many great things. One of the biggest achievements we somehow manage on a daily basis is reading all the crap that ends up posted all over the forums. However, there are other, rarer accomplishments too, and the one place where respect is genuine and trolls are rare is the Achievements forum. Here, players of all levels give each other a virtual pat on the back in recognition of their accomplishments, and I thought that in itself deserved recognition. It is important to take a little pause in our lives to celebrate what makes our time here special. And while those who post in the achievements forum already receive forum karma and kind words of encouragement, we'd like to add the glory of appearing in the newspaper to those rewards. W...

War Erupts In Torn City

DominicV [2289277] — City shaken by faction warring. JFK, SA, R and NS all involved. Racket extortion blamed for upturn in aggression. Main factions primed for involvement in proxy wars. Torn City has once again erupted into war after several months of relative tranquillity. While last Autumn's Tornobyl incident involved the dropping of a few nukes and comparatively little fighting on the ground, this time some of the city’s most powerful criminal organizations are going toe to toe in a series of violent territorial battles. At the time of writing Subversive Alliance and JFK are presently engaged in a conflict in the southwest part of the city. Meanwhile, sub-factions of Relentless and Natural Selection have been warring in Sectors 6 and 7. And all of this comes after the most violent weekend in Torn City's history, with 1.2 million attacking hits made on the 14th and 15th of February, and a decade high of 35,000 active users registered on those days too. With regards to th...

Hammer Takes URT Winter Rally Title

sugarvalves [1963573] — The Ultimate Racing Tournament ended last Sunday, and if you're sick of hearing about a competition you have no intention of ever entering, then you'll be glad to know that this is our final report, you sourpuss. Our Winter Rally champion was Hammer, who ended the competition with a lead of 40.78 seconds over his nearest challenger, Data. Hammer had a decent start to the tournament and was second after two races, but a disastrous last-place finish in the third race at Uptown looked to have put a major dent in his title challenge. However, Hammer responded with a stunning victory at Industrial where he finished seven seconds ahead of the rest of the pack. Hethen followed this up with a second consecutive victory at Two Islands to take the overall lead of the URT from Archimede. This would be a lead he would never relinquish, and Hammer went on to win two further races at Docks and Mudpit as he streaked ahead of the competition to take the URT Winter Ra...

Where a single developer is individually mentioned, it simply reflects who confirmed the report as fixed or complete, and not that they were solely responsible. Updates, Changes, and Additions - Added bonuses list to chain reports. The bonus hits of a chain are now displayed in a panel at the bottom of the final report after a suggestion from Kelsie, allowing for easier tracking. - Added vertical scrolling to status effects in attacking. During an attack, it is now possible to view all status effects currently active on the opponent by scrolling through them. This is most likely to be seen during large group attacks on Duke or Leslie. Presumably, this addition is in relation to a repor...
