Torn City Tales: PnB

Madmiketyson [979994] — Hear how Firework stands could bring down a faction, how SA & JFK were once taken down with a single hit, and how the glory days are coming back for one of Torn's veteran factions. Back in 2009, I was a young player floating around the city with no idea what I was doing and no sense of direction. In all honesty, I was probably a couple of days away from never logging in again. Then the company I was in was sold back to the system and I found myself unemployed. As a result of that sale, I met a player called THE-BRAIN . He gave me a job in his fireworks stand and started to show me the ropes of what Torn was really about. After a few weeks, I joined his faction, Pinky and Brain. PnB is a faction with a rich history. Today, I am here to tell the story of how it rose, why it fell, and how it is now rising again! Who Was The Brain? When I arrived in Torn, THE-BRAIN had been playing for a while and had built up a reputation as one of those players who didn...

sugarvalves [1963573] — Top egg collector revealed. 11 eggs needed for maximum competition token haul. Easter auction results announced. Community Event & Raffle results expected soon-ish. This year, players collected an average of 5.2 eggs per perso...

NS v SA: The Leaders Speak Out

sugarvalves [1963573] — With the war between these two behemoths now seemingly over, we hear from the top brass as to how this war went down, why it lasted so long, and why it ended in a crushing defeat for SA Natural Selection has been taking territories from Subversive Alliance on an almost daily basis for the past month. Yesterday, the 22nd, was the first day in nearly two weeks without a territorial fight between the two factions. It appears that this long-awaited war is finally over, and the result could not have been more comprehensive. The territorial side of this war began at CUG on March 30th with a successful assault by Natural Selection. It ended with another NS victory over SA at RCE . Over the course of the entire war, the territorial score between the two sides is 24-3 in favour of successful assaults by Natural Selection. These figures become even more damning when you discover that the three doesn't refer to Subversive Alliance victories, but successful NS defen...

Scripters Foiled By Grace Period

sugarvalves [1963573] — Fifteen-second window applied to inbound and outbound flights. Instant muggings no longer possible at airports. Crowd rejoice / mourn at decision. Ched hailed as genius / evil villain by many. Torn’s script-muggers have today suffered a major setback in their ability to print money, as it appears the authorities have found a solution that will hopefully end the recent spate of instant muggings that have befallen airport passengers. Instant Mugging The trouble began when the Stock Market changes were pushed on the 6th of April. Because players can no longer buy or sell stocks while travelling, there is no longer a safe way to access money stored in the Cayman Islands bank. The Caymans allow players to invest an unlimited amount of money in return for (a pitiful) 0.5% interest rate. This meant that some people stored many billions here, and when this money was needed, investors would simply withdraw their cash, board a plane home, and have it safely stored in s...

Cannabis Day Begins Soon!

sugarvalves [1963573] — Boost to nerve to be temporarily applied to all Cannabis items. Overdose chances increased. Find out what overdosing does to you during 4-20, and where you can buy cheap weed to celebrate. Are you ready to blaze it 4-20? Don't forget to blaze it 4-19 and 4-21 too, because Torn's 48-hour Cannabis event is almost here! Pictured: Sound advice. You've Got Some Nerve From noon on the 19th until the same time on the 21st, any Cannabis used in Torn will provide the user with three times as much nerve as usual. Cannabis typically provides either two or three nerve per hit, so during the 4-20 event, potheads may get anywhere between six and nine nerve from a single bifta. Pictured: It's less if you smoke it through a drug dog. The cooldown for Cannabis is 60-90 minutes, which means that players should be able to take 17-25 of this drug in a 24 hour period. That equates to a minimum value of 102 nerve gained in 24 hours and a maximum of 225 nerve. If th...

Crime Experience: A Study

Biggles [1665757] — Which crimes are worth committing? Read this guide on how best to accumulate Crime Experience as calculated by PT-Calculated. Wave of conventional bombings expected in response. Water is wet. Fire is hot. Nova is a buffoon. There are certain truths that are universally accepted, one of which is the fact that Torn's crime rate is high, has always been high, and forever will be. As a result, Torn's criminals are some of the very best in the world. And the reason for this is that they know which crimes make them into better criminals. While burning down warehouses led to criminals becoming harder to catch, those who focused solely on drug deals were, like Nova, buffoons, buffoons who spent vast amounts of time in jail. How could this be? Why would dealing more drugs make you a worse criminal? Why is it that giving someone coke on a street corner makes you incapable of performing crimes that require a degree of skill, such as the assassinating of political le...

Word Search 13

Pixie- [2342246] — After a one-month absence the Word Search returns! Find out who won our last edition, and complete this month's puzzle for a chance to win four Donator Packs! Oh look, it's the Torn City Times word search back from the dead! Apologies for the delay on our latest puzzle, but with all the recent events and updates, the newspaper had a few articles in the pipeline that delayed our publication. Our February puzzle received 92 correct entries, and before we reveal the winners, here are a few comments we received from those who took part. I took an embarrassingly long time to remember that city hall existed. There's candy kisses and some stuff there but I guess those are red herrings. Thank you for the word search! Out of curiosity were “Cupid” “candy kisses” and “love bug” there as valentines red herrings or left over from an old template? I've even found a hidden nickname of a player, probably an easter egg? I'm still a new guy in Torn even tho I...
