Company Insights: Lingerie Stores

grandmodesty [2338209] — One year after their upgrade, many Lingerie Stores are being put up for sale. Former Lingerie director Grandmodesty explores why, and reveals what it takes to run these companies properly. It's nearly one year since Lingerie Stores were overhauled, with a huge increase to income potential applied alongside a complete revamp of the job specials. The publication of these panty-dropping perk changes in Patch List #193 saw both employees and directors flock to the land of lace, but with the anniversary of the Lingerie update having only just passed, it is time to ask whether these changes have helped, or if the naughty fantasy has burned out. One Year On Back in May 2021, Sugarvalves' article announcing the Lingerie Store changes revealed that there were just 99 people employed in this industry at the time, with these employees spread across 39 Lingerie Stores, only 14 of which were active. Six of the 14 active stores were at 10-star level, with three ...

Local News May

sugarvalves [1963573] — Find out who had their matchmaking delayed by two years, why Realistassasin isn't actually joining CR, who won big in the Lucky Dip, and where the UK's very own TornCon might take place! Welcome to the latest edition of the Torn City's Local News column, where we investigate some of the smaller stories you may have missed recently. In this month's article, we cover the covid wedding catastrophé, the results of the lucky dip, LONDON's mysterious new logo, the potential site of a UK TornCon, and a godawful attempt by Champion to troll the Torn City Times. DELAYED MATCHMAKING Cast your mind back to May 2020. The Coronavirus pandemic was in full swing, Gal Gadot's celebrity-riddled cover of Imagine was fresh in the memory, and I'd hoarded more toilet paper than I could shake a suspiciously brown stick at. With a deadly virus on the loose, global lockdowns meant that everyone's plans for the year were put on hold indefinitely. Sadly...

Dear Aunty Torn

sugarvalves [1963573] — Should you start your own faction? What can you do if your employer shafts you? And how can you tip the balance when you're being marginalised in a leadership role? Let's ask Aunty Torn! Aunty Torn sure is glad she isn't an NPC at this time of year, as I'd be having to look over my shoulder for some young whippersnapper trying to nab my precious tag! Or at least I would... if the Dog Tag event had actually started. Not that this is anything compared to the olden days. Aunty remembers when the lights used to go out every second week! But did we take to the forums demanding compensation? Yes, probably. I can't remember. Anyway, here are some of the questions you've sent to my mailbag this month. If my answers are a little longer than usual it's because Aunty's been laid up having rolled her ankle trying to clear a pigeon corpse from her gutters - that's not a euphemism. Dear Aunty Torn, Should I raise a new faction up on my o...

Advanced Caches. What Do You Know

masheen [2625139] — How many advanced bonuses are you aware of? Which bonuses are the most popular? And how can you identify the right price for Torn's advanced weapons and armors? Read Masheen's guide to find out! It's been just over five months since Advanced Weapon and Armor caches were introduced to Torn as a reward for participation in Ranked Warring, and since then, the community has been trying to figure out how to value these powerful new items according to the unique bonuses they provide. Pictured: This one is red. That means good, right? Red is always good. As some of you may know, I have built a database to help both new and experienced players buy, sell and determine the value of the loot received from these Advanced Weapon and Armor caches. Whereas the item market is not currently optimized for the sale of advanced weapons (pending a future update), my database allows you to sort through advanced items on sale by quality, bonus, damage, and more. As with a...

Economist's Prize April Announced

sugarvalves [1963573] — Find out how an animated effort won the Economist's Comic Prize for the first time, who earned a runner-up prize, and what you need to do to be in with a chance of winning this month! Shootme5dollars has become the first player to win the Economist's Comic Prize with an animated entry. SM5d's amusing cartoon poked fun at the simplicity behind a so-called "ehpik foght", impressing our judge Lt_Wolf with the effort and execution on display. However, Torn's economist was quick to point out that regular comics remain his preference. "Love the animation on the winner, and the gimmick secured the victory. But animations are not required to win in the future! " - Lt_Wolf Artist: Shootme5dollars. Link Shootme5dollars will receive $100 million for their animated comic, with Lt_Wolf deeming a further five people worthy of the $10 million runner-up prize. April's comic entries were of a particularly high standard, and judging b...

Dog Tags Rescheduled

sugarvalves [1963573] — Tournament cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. Refills and book remunerations offered to participants. Organisers hope to restore event to the calendar in late-June. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Dog Tags Tournament that was due to begin today has now been rescheduled. Chedburn's Announcement The Dog Tags event was scheduled to open at 12:00 TCT and last until the same time on the 26th of May. However, after the tournament's delayed opening at 13:00 TCT, it was soon discovered that those who chose the Steal Tag option were not being rewarded with tags. We can assure you that the Dog Tag tournament's development version had been fully tested prior to its release, and everything worked as expected. Unfortunately, it seems there was an issue with the production variant of the competition. We are currently investigating why this happened in an effort to ensure it does not take place again. Torn's developers would like to apologise fo...

Dog Tag Changes Announced

sugarvalves [1963573] — Ten day event begins Monday at noon. Tag stealing mechanics amended. Personal tag and NPC bonuses slashed. Public scores made available for first time. After an extended hiatus, the Dog Tag Tournament returns tomorrow, with tags assigned and therefore stealable from noon on Monday the 16th of May. After much deliberation between the developers and committee, we’ve made a few crucial changes to this year’s event. Here’s our rundown of how Dog Tags 2022 is going to work. Ten Days The most apparent change, given that we’re talking about this mid-May, is that the tournament has been shortened from its usual duration of 21 days to 10 days. Dog Tags begins at 12:00 TCT on the 16th of May and ends at the same time on the 26th of May. Steal Tag If you wish to take a tag from an opponent, hospitalizing, leaving, or mugging them will no longer suffice. A fourth option, Steal Tag, must now be selected upon defeating a player in order to take a tag from them. This option...
