Archimede Takes Early URT Lead

sugarvalves [1963573] — Find out what's been happening in the URT, what's left to come, and how you can win prizes even if you're not taking part! The Ultimate Racing Tournament: Winter Rally is now three races deep, and already it looks like we have a contender for victory in the form of Archimede, who currently possesses a sixteen-second lead going into the fourth race at Industrial tonight. Consistency is the key to winning the Winter Rally, and with Archimede having achieved sixth, first and fourth in his opening three races, it looks like everyone will be playing catchup for the next few races at least. Pictured: The current top 10. The Winter Rally qualifying sessions concluded last Thursday after an action-packed six-day event which saw eighty-seven races run across six different tracks. The URT was indebted to its stewards for generously offering to help put on this event, which ended up becoming the largest qualifying round we've ever run. Thank you to ever...

Weekly Patch Notes 14/01/2020

Stewie [1494547] — Let's look through the Patch list for the week of 14/01/2020 to see what updates, changes, and fixes have been made by the Developers, and what they mean for you. Please note, the updates and bugs documented in this article are worked on by a team of developers. Where a single developer is individually mentioned, it simply reflects who confirmed the report as fixed or complete, and not that they were solely responsible. Updates, Changes, Additions, & Removals - Added Faction News search tool. A new search tool has now been added to Faction News, which will allow players to find what they are looking for more quickly. This was previously suggested by Jefayette, which received a response from Chedburn stating he'd arrange for development time to be spent on implementing it. In a bug report by Tispy, inquiring about an update for when this feature would be added, Chedburn also mentioned that a bunch of other search tools were also in the works. The fa...

Money, Merits and Amusement

Ac3to [2196357] — Get tips on winning money and easy merits at Torn's Lucky Shot Casino In this article, I’m going to give an overview of each game available in Torn’s Lucky Shot Casino, including a summary of the rules, how I recommend to approach playing, and if there are any merits available to be won by doing so. Because while you may be able to turn a profit playing some games, there are others which are best left alone unless you can afford to take the risk. But before we begin, I want to make an important point regarding Torn and games of chance. Quite simply, if you're looking to guarantee a profit, the Casino is not the place to do it. It may be tempting when you see others winning big to dream of being in their shoes, but 999,999 times out of 1 million, you're the guy paying for that lucky b**tard's private island. Here are some things to remember before you start: Use what you can lose. You should only bet what you can afford to lose; because chances are y...

The Torn Word Search Returns!

Pixie- [2342246] — Would you like four donator packs? Then try to solve Pixie-'s oh-so puzzling word search! Following the successful publication of our first word search in the Local News earlier this year, we've decided to give you puzzled people another chance to search for more words among a jumbled mess of letters. But first, let's find out the winners of our January word search competition, and see what they've won! We received a whopping 89 entries for the January word search, and it seems that many of you enjoy the challenge. Based on the feedback the most challenging word was Loot: “…Dang, 'loot' took me long to find .” “…is it a commentary on xmastown that I can't find loot in your word search?” In retrospect it seems very appropriate, although not intentional, considering the grind to find loot and keys in Christmas Town. A few people also identified some bonus words such as Torn, which were entirely coincidental! Anyway, the first person to s...

Awareness Awareness Week

sugarvalves [1963573] — How aware are you of Awareness Awareness week? Do you know what it does? Are you aware of when it starts, or how long it lasts? And why should you give a damn? Are you aware that Awareness Awareness week starts on Monday? If not, then don’t be wary, as Awareness Awareness week does not require you to be aware of the endless number of awareness campaigns which litter the media these days. Children with terrible diseases, cats that don’t read so good and acts of genocide in faraway lands are no concern of ours right now. For the next week of our wretched lives, all we need care about is free stuff! Awareness is an attribute which determines how many items you'll "stumble across" while browsing the city map. The higher your awareness, the more often you'll find items, and logically this means you stand an increased chance of finding fancier items. So while those who have used merit points, job specials and books to boost Awareness are more like...

Patch Notes 17-24/12/2019

Stewie [1494547] — Let's look through the Patch list for the weeks of 17 - 24/12/2019 to see what updates, changes, and fixes have been made by the Developers, and what they mean for you. Hey, so I'm back with these now and I hope everyone has had a happy New Year. I do apologize for the delay in getting to these, but as the end of the year is always a hectic time, I've only just managed to. The following article contains the patch notes of the last two Patch lists of 2019, and I aim to keep these up each week for the foreseeable future. Please note, the updates and bugs documented in this article are worked on by a team of developers. Where a single developer is individually mentioned, it simply reflects who confirmed the report as fixed or complete, and not that they were solely responsible. Updates, Changes, Removals and Additions - Added territory cooldown data to the territory tooltip on the City Map. The exact time remaining until being able to assault or claim a f...

Dear Aunty Torn

sugarvalves [1963573] — In her first column of the year, Aunty tells her readers how to shake off bounties, what the difference is between a scam and exploitation, and how to propose to the love of your life! New year, new me! Aunty has had her legs waxed to celebrate the start of the decade, and who knows where else she'll have hair removed from over the coming weeks. That upper lip has been crying out for a shave for a while now, and let's not even talk about the small of her back - it's like a little tail! But enough of hirsute old Aunty, because it's time for her readers to receive her smooth, hairless nuggets of advice once more. First up this month, we have a victim of bounty bullying! Oh what to do. Dear Aunty, I've been struggling with some people who are constantly mugging me and putting bounties on me. I have avoided them for a while but I am starting to get annoyed. How could I combat this without getting factions involved? Anon Hi, For a start, make ...

Crossword 39

ArttiIsGod [1954421] — If Christmas Town didn't provide you with enough loot, then perhaps this extra fancy festive crossword will! Hello and welcome to the Torn City Times Crossword number 39. Everyone has spent the past few weeks looting Scrooge and wandering around Iribuya's treasure-laden Christmas Town map to nab as much free stuff as possible. But how much do you remember of Christmas 2019? If your answer is "none", then you won't get a Greta Mask! But before we get into all that, we must reveal that the answer to our previous crossword was "Do you seriously believe the earth round?" So do you? Because it's not. The Earth is an oblate spheroid. In your FACE non-educated jerks. The first person to answer our puzzle correctly was, yet again, AcidBagger . The three random runner-uppers who also got the right answer were _Lincoln_ , JackKelly and Jesawd . NOTE: We forgot to include two other runnerupperers, who are Finaldoom and Phatweasul . ...

Market Report 2020

sugarvalves [1963573] — Have we named this report after 2020 just to get you to read it? Yes. Did it work? Maybe. But either way, this market report contains a sleigh-full of trading info you can't afford to miss! The first Market Report of 2020 has been slightly delayed by the festive season and this reporter taking a well-needed break. However, just like those trips to the lavatory after an all-night cheese and paté session, you can expect this one to be extra long and satisfying, as we have the gargantuan influence of Christmas Town to consider. First, I'd like to remind you all that the Market Report is an easy way for traders to get their name out there, and also earn that elusive Newspaper merit. If you're interested in writing the next Market Report (which will be much shorter than this one!) please contact me, Sugarvalves, at your earliest convenience. Christmas Town opened fully on the 19th of December and remained so for slightly longer than usual, with its clo...
