This was true even before the introduction of Advanced Weapons and Armors, and it remains true today. There is still a huge market out there for standard weapons, and in this article, I'm going to share with you my knowledge on how to grab a slice of this action, including tips on how to source the right stock, how to price correctly, and what you need to do to dominate the market. My Story I first started trading weapons in October 2020 after I sold an 85% full body armor for $27m. Th...

Evaline [2103253] — Unofficial community meetup event returns with the second-ever TornCon scheduled to run on August 6th in Washington DC. Planning and preparation has begun for the second annual TornCon 2022 in Washington DC. Players from all factions and sectors are invited to attend on August 6, 2022 in America’s Capital. What Is TornCon? TornCon is an unofficial meetup organized by and for the players of Torn City (Torn is in no way affiliated with this event). For those who missed the article about last year's event, you can catch up HERE . It was everything you'd imagine a TornCon to be with the expected ratio of nerds, trolls, cargo shorts, and guy-to-girl ratios. Stretch and Andyman were in attendance, and both agreed that the tunnel at the Chicago Museum of Illusions was their favorite memory. Personally, I enjoyed the amazing spread of food. It was so delicious, and there were so many things to try! "It's really a great way to finally put faces with those...

sugarvalves [1963573] — Find out who won March's $100m comic prize, and what you need to do to be in with a chance of winning in April and May! EarthFireMonkey is the winner of the Economist's Comic Prize this month. Their strip entertained Lt_Wolf by accurately depicting the community's utter indifference towards TiredSaladLego's sextuple dirty bomb strike back in March. Artist: EarthFireMonkey. Larger Link. EarthFireMonkey takes home $100m in prize money for their winning effort, and a further five players have been deemed worthy of the $10m runner-up prize. Lt_Wolf was pleased by the quantity and quality of the comics that were sent in during March, and also wanted to give a special mention to one of the comic page's most consistent contributors. "I found these ones quite humorous, so keep that going I guess! And a special shout-out to slockins101, a consistent contributor of high-quality comics." Unfortunately, being mentioned by Lt_Wolf doesn'...

Of All The Nerve!

sugarvalves [1963573] — Triple nerve event begins at noon on the 19th. Overdose chances quintupled for 48 hours. Weed prices remain stable after failed manipulation attempt. Torn's 48-hour Cannabis event begins today at noon TCT, with the effects of weed tripled and your chances of overdosing on the drug increased greatly until noon on the 21st of April. Pictured: Those who ingest weed gummies will see no benefits from 4-20 day, or indeed any day, because three times nothing is still nothing. Cannabis typically provides a boost of 2-3 nerve when taken, along with a slight increase in crime success rate - because everyone knows great decisions are made when high. The downsides to taking weed include reductions of between 20% and 35% to Strength, Defense, and Speed, along with a cooldown of 60-90 minutes, and 2 points towards your addiction status. During the 4-20 event, the only positive aspect of Cannabis that is affected by a bonus is its provision of nerve, which is raised to ...

War Mode Coming Soon

sugarvalves [1963573] — Find out what War Mode does, how you can use it outside of warring periods, and discover the answer to some of the community's biggest questions regarding the Ranked Warring update. War Mode Coming Soon Factions who wish to alter their upgrade trees ahead of ranked wars, training periods, or bonus events will soon be able to do so with ease thanks to the forthcoming introduction of War Mode. Larger Link Previously, factions had to wait 72 hours for any upgrades to be unset. But when War Mode is released on Tuesday the 19th, factions will be able to unset upgrades immediately and replace them with a pre-chosen set of alternatives. The caveat to this is that these upgrades are fixed in place for 72 hours and cannot be unset during this time. There are effectively two loadouts for faction trees now, with one labelled War Mode and the other Peace Mode. A faction can enter War Mode instantly whenever they need to, switching all of their branches over to their...

Strip Club Specials Boosted

sugarvalves [1963573] — Defense and Dexterity enthusiasts encouraged to work at revamped Gents and Ladies Strip Clubs. Happiness, Melee defense, and Temp Injectable buffs provided by new array of specials. Torn’s Strip Clubs have finally received their long-awaited upgrade today, with several new specials introduced in an effort to boost the popularity of these flagging companies. The Naked Truth Gents and Ladies Strip Clubs are the second and sixth least popular company types in Torn City, with just 230 people employed in these two industries combined. At the time of writing, there were just 20 active Gents Strip Clubs in operation, 9 of which were 10-star establishments. There were also 28 Ladies Strip Clubs running, and only 10 of these held the maximum 10-star status. While the number of Strip Clubs overall is on the low side, the proportion of these firms running at ten stars is actually quite healthy. However, when you look at the makeup of the original specials, it becomes cl...

Tuesday enlistments, improved matchmaking, hybrid ranks, and Thurs-Sun warring period among the features of the new Ranked Warring system. Torn’s Ranked Warring matchmaking system has been suspended from noon today until noon on Tuesday the 19th of April in order to facilitate a number of important changes. Any wars that have already been organised will go ahead as scheduled, and factions will be able to enlist as usual, but no further matches will be made for one week. Here is a detailed look at the changes we’re making to Ranked Warring, and the reasons why they are necessary. Hybrid Ranks From the 19th, ranked warring participants will be matched using a hybrid system that looks at both ranks and stats when searching for a suitable opponent. This system modelled well under testing, giving us a low number of unfair matches while creating a more dynamic ranked warring experience for everyone involved. ...

NPC Looting - How Not To Do It

Wiber [2065939] — With Andyman's list of Level III losers growing by the day, we explore why so many NPC looters are suffering from Early Weapon Discharge, and what Chedburn plans to do about it. In the real world, beating up old people and freaks to steal their belongings is frowned upon. But in Torn, the ritual assault and robbery of Torn's NPCs is something of a community event, with players both young and old gathering on a daily basis to kick the crap out of Duke, Leslie, or the Easter Bunny for the possibility of nicking a bit of their kit. Of course, this isn’t the only reason to attack an NPC. You can join in these group attacks to work towards the merits for running away, stalemating, assisting, high damage hits, and the once in a lifetime merit for successfully looting an NPC. Furthermore, NPC attacks can be a great opportunity to improve weapons experience (provided you make plenty of hits) and use vast quantities of ammunition, including special ammunition. Pictu...

Find the answers to these questions and more in our latest Market Report! April's headline news was the announcement that Easter Eggs will no longer be tradeable from 2023. But has this information affected the market yet? Let's find out as we take a look at SEDs, plushies, flowers, and the rest in this month's market report. EXPLOSIVE PRICES On March 6th a Small Explosive Device would cost you just $3.1m. Today, that same device will set you back nearly twice that amount, with SEDs going for $5.2m at the time of writing. Aaassh contacted The Times to tell us that these prices correspond with a huge amount of SED usage that took place during the NS2 v PT ranked war . "PT should be mostly EU-based players. So they were SEDing overnight to avoid getting farmed. NS were then using SEDs during the PT waking hours to preve...
