Wildhare's Guide To The Year

WildHare [2173250] — Read on to find out how new players can become competitive by following a few basic tips and taking part in Torn's monthly and annual events! Everyone knows that the first thing you should do when you join Torn is dive into the forums. That's what I did when I arrived here on October 2nd, 2018. I just missed the Elimination event, so I had plenty of time to start reading everything I could find in forum guides and the wiki while making my way through the tutorial missions. The second thing you should do is join a faction. And the third thing you should do is familiarize yourself with Torn's Calendar , because there are things going on in this city every single month! If you know how to use these events correctly, they can help boost your progress way beyond those of your peers. But which events are suitable for newbies? And what do they involve? Let's find out as we take a look at all of Torn's confirmed events and how to use them, based on m...

Merry Christmas Everyone!

sugarvalves [1963573] — Ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho... ho Christmas is about one thing and one thing alone; stuffing your face full of cheese, chocolate and cheap booze in the company of those you love or tolerate. Maybe there's something about a Middle-Eastern kid and a fat lad in a red jumpsuit too, I don't know. I haven't done the research. The point is, Christmas is a time for coming together, and in Torn, you can do that even if you're spending Christmas on your own this year. Because in Torn City you're never alone - that's not always a good thing, but it is undoubtedly true. If you are spending the holidays by yourself, either because your family is far away, you hate them, or they've gone on vacation and accidentally left you behind Home Alone style, we hope you'll reach out to y...

Dear Aunty Torn

sugarvalves [1963573] — How can you make friends in Torn? Is it okay for your director to charge for trains? And what should you do if your mugging profits have been nerfed? Read on to find out what Aunty Torn thinks! Aunty hasn't been out of the house much lately, because the whole city has suddenly started to stink of trash! It's as if everyone has been rolling around in the dump or something. Is this one of those new crazes Aunty keeps hearing about? Like Pokemon? Or waterboarding? Anywho, Aunty has popped on her glasses and popped in her pills and is ready to dispense advice to you, the troubled citizens of Torn. So let's begin with a question from a young player who just wants to make a few pals. Hi Aunty Torn, Is there any way I can get more involved with the Torn community beyond my faction? I had a lot of fun engaging with others in Elim 2019 and I was wondering if there was any way I could make new friends without taking part in one of those big competitions. Hi...

Christmas Town Extended

sugarvalves [1963573] — Christmas Town opened to all after brief downtime. Maps set to remain open for longer than scheduled to reward player patience / satiate community bloodlust. Chedburn has announced that Christmas Town is set to be extended for a few days beyond its usual closing time, as a way of compensating for its delayed opening earlier this week. The opportunity to frolic in the snow, collect cans and crash through frozen ice is now available to everyone, and while some issues may crop up during peak times, it is expected that Christmas Town will now remain fully open for all players - until it closes, obviously. No specific timeframe has been given for Christmas Town's duration, but given that it opened two days after it was scheduled to do so, you can probably expect CT to end around the 2nd or 3rd of January, depending on how full of festive spirit our Lord and Saviour Chedburn is. During this time, many of you will want to check out the official Christmas Town ma...

Weekly Patch Notes 10/12/2019

Stewie [1494547] — Let's look through the Patch list for the week of 10/12/2019 to see what updates, changes, and fixes have been made by the Developers, and what they mean for you. Please note, the updates and bugs documented in this article are worked on by a team of developers. Where a single developer is individually mentioned, it simply reflects who confirmed the report as fixed or complete, and not that they were solely responsible. Updates, Changes, Removals and Additions - Added visible passive stat modifiers panel in attacking. During an attack, you will now be able to see to see the passive stat modifiers of yourself and your opponent. While this change may not be popular for some of the playerbase, Chedburn believes this system will greatly simplify the process, allowing the user to understand what is actually happening during an attack to prevent any possible confusion. - Added the total cost of the shares required for a stock special to the 'About' tab on t...

The Xmas Kindness Campaign

Kata [1990396] — Player-run Holiday Heals event set to hand out free revives to all players over Christmas. Read on to find out more. Are you planning a little territory skirmish this weekend? Maybe you'd like to overdose on Christmas Day. Or perhaps you'd like to insult Bodybagger's mother and see what happens? If so, chances are you'll end up in the Torn Hospital, and that can be a depressing place at Christmas. But thanks to the efforts of Rise Again and some other healing factions you won't spend long in the emergency ward this year, as they're offering free revives to all players from the 20th to the 25th of December! Pictured: Meme courtesy of MamaTort This event was created by Stoned , the leader of Rise Again, who wanted to spread some holiday cheer and give back to the community by offering free revives over Christmas. Originally, his faction was only going to perform this good deed on Christmas Day, but since many people already had plans to argue w...

Duke's Christmas Giveaway Returns!

sugarvalves [1963573] — Annual dumping of valuable crap set to begin on Saturday. Twelve days of Christmas giveaways will include rare and never-before-seen items. Duke's annual Christmas giveaway is set to return this Saturday, with his traditional twelve days of dumping scheduled to run up to and including Christmas Day itself - because apparently Duke has f**k all to do on Christmas morning, the massive loser. Every day from the 14th to the 25th, Duke will hurl several expensive items into the dump at various points throughout the day. The items Duke throws out will become more expensive or rare as the giveaway progresses, and as usual, there will be several new items created especially for the occasion. Last year, players were treated to such fabulous items as a Toast Jesus, a Cheesus, a bottle of Christmas spirit, a Gronch Mask - legally distinct from the Grinch - and a Scammer in the Slammer toy. This year, Duke plans on giving out more bottles of Christmas Spirit on an un...

Torn's Citizens Confess Their Sins

sugarvalves [1963573] — Find out why you should always do your research, why envy is destructive, and how the Torn City Times has been exonerated over its involvement in Elimination 2018. October's maiden confessional was a spicy affair, to say the least. We had a scammer admit to a ruse involving Bogie, a thief who professed to abusing the trust of those in Fun and Games, and a quite awful moron who confessed they had wasted an expensive stat enhancer. But the confessions we have for you this time around are even spicier. And even though I plan on saying that every single month, I can assure you that this time it's true. Mostly because our first confession comes from a participant in 2018's Elimination contest, and it exonerates none other than yours truly. The Pastor's Response "And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that...

Updates, Changes, Removals, and Additions - Changed Flamethrower usage text in attack log: 'fired a burst'. After a report from LimestonePie, the usage text for the Flamethrower item has been changed from "fired 1 round" to "fired a burst". Slash Wednesday Returns Tuesday

sugarvalves [1963573] — What the hell does that mean? How does a Wednesday occur on a Tuesday? And what is Slash Wednesday anyway? Read on to find out why you should be levelling up this week. Torn's annual Slash Wednesday event takes place this week, with this 48-hour awareness drive by the staff at Torn City Hospital set to cause carnage and chaos across the city, as patients young, old and crippled can all expect to be turfed out of their beds much quicker than usual! Pictured: I'm sorry you have a shattered pelvis madam, but you need to GTFO. Slash Wednesday was created by the staff at Torn City Hospital to draw citizens' attention towards the heroic feats of endurance they perform on a daily basis. On any given day, TCH sees upwards of 100,000+ patients arrive through their doors, with gunshot victims, overdosed tweakers and lightly irradiated bystanders just some of those who expect to be treated in the world's most over-subscribed healthcare facility. And trea...

Unfortunately, some entries were too small to read or too big to open. But the winning fully solved crossword I have chosen this time was created by gayistheway , wh...
